South Africa
South Africa is fondly known as the Rainbow Country because of its diversity of people, cultures and natural scenery.
It is an enchanting country of spectacular contrasts and sport has been at the forefront of its resurgence as a nation on the international fixtures list. In recent years it has played host to the 1995 Rugby World Cup and the 2003 Cricket World Cup. It proves that excellent facilities for most kinds of sports are to be found in the country and local teams always provide strong opposition to touring sides but also extend the warmest of welcomes so that an enriching experience is enjoyed by all.
The climate makes year-round outdoor sport and recreation possible throughout South Africa.
Apart from game parks and nature reserves, the main tourist attractions are the variety of scenic attractions ranging from desert plains carpeted with blooms in spring, to towering mountains soaring above valleys and vineyards; the hustle and bustle of modern cities and a coastline 3,000 km in length which includes some of the world's best bathing and surfing beaches.
Within these boundaries the sightseeing opportunities are endless with Cape Town offering magnificent views from on top of Table Mountain, the bustling Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and beautiful beaches. You can visit the wine lands of Stellenbosch, go shark cage diving or take a trip into the African bush to experience a safari and the chance to see the 'Big Five' in their natural habitat. There are also opportunities to visit Sun City, drive the Garden Route or visit the famous Kruger National Park.
