France
Located between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast – ready made for the perfect sports tour.
Toulouse is a city of students and the capital of the good life. Its taste for celebrations, fine food in any number of bistros and restaurants and a thriving night life make it a very attractive touring location. Toulouse rewards the wanderer with its small, 18th-century Old Quarter a maze of narrow lanes and plazas in which to get happily lost or stumble across grand churches, fine art and handsome 16th-century mansions.
There is of course more and to the sports enthusiast it is a place to immerse yourself in the fervent passion of its supporters, notably in rugby, where tradition runs high and teams are abundant but also in football where touring sides will also meet very stiff opposition.
More Junior sides are also well catered for with excellent sports facilities and adventure activities such as canoeing close at hand. Biarritz is another destination worth considering - well known for its fine beaches and world-class surfing - but its true passion for sports also lies in the people's love of rugby lying in the heart of the ‘hot bed’ of French rugby.
