Holland

Lively social scene and plenty of culture

Amsterdam is a cocktail of the old and new with wonderful 17th-century architecture, windmills and winding canals mixed in with large quantities of beer and liberal drug and sex laws. As a result there are many fascinating neighbourhoods to explore, from the red light sleaze to bohemian chic and stately grandeur.

The landscape is riddled with graceful bridges and eccentric churches and most attractions are within the canal belt, so sightseeing is a breeze and bicycles and canal boats prevail amongst the bustle of the waterways and pedestrianised areas. Easy to reach by road, rail or plane it is an ideal location for a shorter tour and with rugby, football and hockey all very popular you can be assured of a winning atmosphere and a great cultural experience whatever your age group.

The Hague is a great place to tour with many cultural events and coastal attractions; it is a pleasure to visit at any time of the year. At the nearby theme park in Duinrell, both old and young can enjoy the many amusements.

Other suitable locations for younger groups include Den Bosch and Tilburg in the south with many holiday parks and attractions. Wherever you go you are sure to encounter windmills, clogs and cheese!
